Eid al adha is celebrated on 10th of Zul-Hajj which is the last and the 12 month of Islamic calendar. Islamic calendar is also known as lunar calendar.

Eid ul Adha is also known as the eid Festival of Sacrifice. There are two festivals marked as the festivals of Muslims in a year. As the interpretation of Prophet’s (S.A.W) saying, “Muslims have two festivals in a year, Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid ul Adha.”It is celebrated on the 10th Zilhaj in different parts of the world. After the Hajj, Muslims celebrate this festival. Muslims celebrate this Eid in the remembrance of the sacrifice of Ibrahim. Ibrahim was ready to sacrifice his son in the way of Almighty Allah. This festival is celebrated in the remembrance of this sacrifice.

Eid al adha is also known as Bakra Eid or Great Eid or Eid Qurbani or eid ul adha. In the Islamic countries, there is a public holiday in the event of Eid. Muslims in Islamic countries like Pakistan give the sacrifice of a goat, cow or camel in the path of Almighty Allah. It realizes the importance of sacrifice in the Islam.

Traditions of Eid al Adha:

On the occasion of Eid al adha, Muslim men, women and children wear their best clothes. In the early morning, Muslims offer their Eid prayers. After prayers, Muslims who can afford, sacrifice the halal animals (cow, goat, sheep or camel). This sacrifice is done in the remembrance of the sacrifice of Ibrahim.

According to the Islamic teachings, the meat of the sacrificed animal is divided into three parts. According to the Qurbani meat distribution rules, the one part of the meat is for the family, the second part is for relatives, neighbors, and friends while the third part is for the needy and poor people. This is the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W). This sacrifice of the halal animal is the basic part of this Islamic festival.

Muslims celebrate this Eid festival for two or three days. It depends on the different regions of the world. In Pakistan, this Eid is celebrated for three days every year. Eid al Adha in Pakistan 2016 was celebrated in the month of September. Eid al Adha traditions vary according to different regions of the world. But Muslims follow the Islamic traditions of Eid ul Adha in all the regions of the world.

On this festival, women in the houses made special food. On this occasion, the children are very excited for the Eid al Adha food. Qurbani is compulsory for the Muslim who can afford the animal. Special and delicious meals are made in the three days of Eid al-adha. It is also very important to remember the poor and needy people on this special Islamic event. According to Islamic teachings, they have the right for the Qurbani meat. Division of meat among the poor people is an essential part of this festival.

Eid al Adha in Different Parts Of The World:

Eid al Adha is celebrated in different parts of the world. Muslims are living across the world. They celebrate all their religious festivals with the great religious spirits. A large number of Muslims are living in the USA, they celebrate this religious festival in different states of the USA. Muslims in the USA have full religious freedom. They offer Eid prayers and greet Eid wishes to other Muslims every year. There is no public holiday in the USA on this festival, but Muslims are allowed to adjust their working hours on their religious festivals.

In the countries like Malaysia, Turkey, UAE, Indonesia and Pakistan, there is a national public holiday on the occasion of Eid al Adha. However, in the non-Islamic states like the USA, UK, and India, there is no holiday on this occasion.

In India, Muslims are also living in a large number. They also celebrate Eid al Adha in India. There is no public holiday in India, but Muslims are allowed to celebrate their religious eid festival.
